For the past few months, even before the release of iOS 13, I have had several dozen instances when on a telephone call in my AirPods, I will reply outloud with "Uh huh" and less frequently "Hmmmmm" and Siri will speak out as if I made a request of her. I am fairly certain that I did not precede these intonations with anything like "Hey Siri." Has anyone else noticed this behavior? When it happens, Siri is sometimes loud enough that the person with whom I am speaking hears it. These instances range from mildly irritating to almost embarrassing. Any thoughts what and why Siri is speaking up? Any way to train Siri to mind her own business?

Yes quite a lot, but ios13 hasn't even been released yet on HomePod ?

I sometimes watch TV and suddenly Siri on HomePod pipes up, once started playing music late at night which scared the crap out of me.
I find it quite funny though when these things happen.

Silly question. How are you answering the phone on your AirPods in the above circumstance?

It does not matter whether I receive a call or place a call. I am describing something incidental to me being on the telephone. If I am in earshot of Siri on my HomePod, she will chime in often if she hears me say out loud, "Uh huh"

I understand now. I experienced this today while on the AirPods in the middle of a long phone call. My HomePod say "You want me to call (friends name)?".

I was standing right next to the HomePod however I definitely didn't say anything related to calling and I certainly did not say that friends name (haven't talked to him in a couple years).

For me, it's definitely when I say "Uh huh." Maybe it's Siri training me for my next Ted Talk, but it's truly strange why that phrase? Also, I have never been able to make Siri respond to "Uh huh" deliberately, it's only during a telephone conversation. Not sure if the telephone conversation part is important or if my intonation is different when speaking to someone.
