From what I understand Siri does not work without a network connection (wi-Fi or 3G) so that Apple servers interprets the questions you ask Siri and come up with a solution. So basicaly Siri will not work if you dont have acces to a network for something like calendar changes, playing music composing a reminder and more.

Going out of the country on vacation ... 3G plans are really expensive ... On the road I guess I will be Siriless until I get back to my hotel with Wi-Fi or .. Is are there tasks that Siri CAN performe without network connection ???

    Thx guys

Siri requires a data connection. It says so at the end of the Siri video on Apple's website.

Until people get the phones I don't think anyone knows - however I suspect that some voice control is possible without network, e.g. you can already play music and dial contacts on the iPhone 4 by voice.

I guess we'll know more next week.
