    Hello there.

So, from what i understand, if you do something like everyday at the same time, like listening to music while running or whatever, iOS will, eventually open the music player when you plug in the headphones.

Is this functionality working outside the US? Because i never see it happening on both my iPhone or my wife iPhone.
I get the search suggestions (apps and contacts) but nothing else.

Or did i get it completely wrong?

It doesn't open the app. It suggests it on the lock page.

Plug in headphones. Wake the phone with the power button and you will see the music player or podcast player icon in the bottom left.

I don't think Apple put too much thought into this feature as most of us (including myself) don't spend that much time on the lockscreen. I press the home button to turn the screen on and my phone unlocks because I leave my finger on the fingerprint sensor.

I don't know why Apple didn't just add a temporary pop up icon somewhere on the home screen for this like a temporary icon on the dock at the bottom like how Mac handles continuity.

I believe the screen comes on by itself too when you plug in a headset.

Either way i don't get anything, be it on lock screen or not. :/

So, is it a US only thingy? Or my habits are not... habits enough for siri? :D

Nope, works for me in the UK. If I have an unfinished podcast and plug my headphones in when going to bed, the podcast appears on the lock screen for me to start playing.

This shouldn't be country A or B exclusive because it doesn't depend on services available on said countries... But, Apple, sometimes, walk some weird paths... :D

Anyone here from any smaller country like myself (Portugal) that has this thingy working? Because on UK there are features that the rest of the world (except US) don't have, like Apple pay.

It's not just music - It even suggests my shopping list in reminders when I arrive at my local shopping market, it can tell when I'm out driving and all sorts. I'm in NZ so it's not a country restriction.

You could be facing issues if you've disabled some features like frequent locations, it relies on that to make suggestions too.

It's even worse with the 6s and 6s+. You just have to quickly press and release the Home button and it unlocks. Where on the 5s and 6/6+ like you said if you leave your finger on it, it soon unlocks.

I'm interested in the shopping list thing: did you just make a generic grocery list, or was the specific store somehow referenced in the list? In other words, does the list come up at every grocery store you visit?

Sometimes I briefly see an icon and right before I can make out what it is I'm at the home screen already. Apple could have done a 50% transparent floating icon above the bottom dock that goes away after 10 seconds.

I frequent this particular shopping market most often and while I'm there have always had my shopping list open - So when I get there it immediately suggests it for me. I've made no reference to anything other than 'Shopping List' in the name of the list. :)

Nice! I'll have to try that.

I am finding that this is getting better over time. In some respects, it beats Google Now, and I did not expect to be saying that.

Does that kind of thing appear in the app switcher? I thought there might be something there for things of that nature too.

I agree. Something like sliding over the 4 dock icons over to the right a bit (maybe shrink slightly as well) to make room for a 5th icon that is the Proactive icon on the left when there is something it suggests. Or a banner on the top (like a banner notification) for a few seconds or so.

Yes. It does appear in the app switcher as well. But you don't see it unless you go there, which probably isn't very common right after unlocking. When the reason you unlocked.

I've seen the icon in the app switcher by accident so if you really need to see what it was you can go there but the visibility on the lock screen is very low and most users won't even notice it.

Works for me in Hong Kong.

If you don't have it, you have to enable "Installed Apps" in Settings, General, Handoff & Suggested Apps
