Siri Reminders -- Do I need to put in my password?

I've recently tried to use Siri to create reminders. Do I need to put in my password first? I just hold the button down when my phone is locked and Siri pops up. I give the reminder and get a confirmation. But the reminder disappears.

Am I doing it wrong? Is there some setting I need to check?

You do not need to enter your password. After the reminder is created are you hitting / voicing the "confirm" button to actually create it?

yes, I hit confirm.
The reminders did show up on my phone today -- about 1 hour too late!
