Can I use the new Siri Remote as a Bluetooth Remote in OS X? Since MacBooks doesn't have infrared anymore, I want to use Siri Remote as common Remote. Of course without Siri.

Thanks.

Bluetooth requires pairing, so I don't think you can just point your remote at the MacBook and use it as a remote. There should be some sort of pairing.

Did anyone tried the new Apple/Siri Remote with OS X? Do you have any other experience? I don't like buying an expensive remote which is useless.

Thank you.

The current Bluetooth profiles do not support media control. Perhaps that might change, but right now, I don't believe the Remote can be used to control the Mac (I've tried it with iTunes, no luck).

Hi guys.

I'm working on a small project that might let you use the Apple TV Siri Remote with the Mac to control iTunes.

If you're interested in testing, please mail me at beta (at) eternalstorms (dot) at - thank you :)
