Hi all. I moved a 2nd gen ATV 4K to be closer to matter devices and it will be headless. In its place I'm using an older 1st gen ATV 4K and I'm trying to reuse the 2nd gen Siri Remote (silver, lightning connector) but having lots of trouble. I can pair it although sometimes it takes a few attempts and then it works fine. However any reboot of ATV (via menu or power) results in remote losing its pairing and I have to re-pair it. I tried all the usual things including resetting the remote, re-pairing the remote, removing power from ATV, charging remote. Same results. I was able to pair an older 1st gen Siri Remote (black one) and that's working fine but prefer the newer one. Any suggestions?

Where is the ATV located at? Is there line of sight from the remote to the ATV?
It’s on a shelf that’s part of a TV console. It’s open with no door and there is line of sight. While I was troubleshooting, I was sitting inches from the Apple TV.

Does this happen when the newer Siri remote is the only remote? As in, you’ve made sure you’ve unpaired or forgotten the older remote.

You can only pair one remote so when you pair a new one the old one is removed. Additionally I did a factory reset and only tried pairing the newer remote.
