Thanks for confirming my suspicions!

I also went and tested a bit more. As said I used “reset all settings”. I found that disabling content search made spotlight very slow. I then reenabled it for all apps.

After that whenever I searched using spotlight and an app gave me results I disabled content search for that app. This seems to work so far.

It’s surprising that most (all?) apps have the option to disable content search however just a handfull actually return results. Perhaps it’s this that’s causing the bug.

So only disabling content search for apps that show search results in spotlight so far works for me. Keeps the speed and keeps the search result list clean.
Ok, decided to give it a shot and so far, so good - thanks for the tip

Speaking of clean search results, anyone know how to get rid of ‘Top Hit’, ‘Siri Suggestions’, ‘Dictionary’, and ‘Search in Apps’ in the results? I have all options turned off in Settings > Siri & Search (but all options turned on in all the app settings under Siri & Search).

Search feels so spammy

UPDATE: the more apps for which I turn off ‘Show Content in Search’ the longer the delay which seems to be returning

Mine isnt working at all unless it's specific apps which is very strange. I can type A-D to find any of the adidas apps on my phone and nothing shows up even after a minute...if I type in the entire ADIDAS, the three apps will show up below the Siri Suggestions (instead of at the top as a "Top Hit") but all of them have that generic "missing icon" icon, and they cant be tapped on to open.

However all three of those apps are on the device and can be found and opened manually. All three have been updated, ive toggled off and back on the "show in search" option, restarted the phone, made sure iOS is up to date...nothing works to bring these into search correctly as they used to.

It seems to be happening to about 90% of my apps...except for Apple apps and some few random other apps (like Mario Run, HBO MAX, and a few others). It just started randomly happening about a week ago and its driving me mad. Now to search for anything i have to swipe all the way over to the App Library screen and THEN do the swipe down to activate search on that page.

Hi, found this issue on another thread as well. I have a similar issue on my IPhone and IPad,
. Instead of resetting the settings or disabling content search for each single app I did the following:

Settings/Siri & Search/disable “show suggestions”. This seems to work. Even after enabling it again.
