Siri - Set Relationships?

Siri is having an issue with me saying "call my best friend" lol it gets stuck thinking I want to call some Beck person!
 
She totally cannot understand any kind of latin/hispanic type name. Well, that's beta for ya. But it IS an amazing beta.

This totally worked for me.
 
Anybody know how to reset relationships? I changed my Father's name in my contacts, and now Siri can't recognize his name.

Change your father's name in your contact page. I imagine you know you have your own contact in the contacts app. Look in there and change your old father's name to the new one.

Guys you don't need to do anything with your contacts. Do this:

1) activate Siri
2) say "call my brother"
3) Siri asks who your brother is
4) tell Siri which of your contacts is your brother
5) Siri will then ask if she can remember that name as your brother
6) you say yes

That's it. The next time you ask to call your brother, it'll know who it is.

Not true,it keeps asking me who is my sis when I already registered her. I have sis and my "XXXX sis friends" and it brings all those up.

Try the steps I outlined; I think you'll find it solves your problem :)

I found a fix: (this fix assumes you have setup your iCloud account to sync contacts...even if you don't have any stored in iCloud yet)

1) Go to Contacts, then click Groups in the top left
2) Go to your iCloud addressbook
3) Create a new contact for yourself
4) Save the contact, but then edit it: delete any "linked" contacts (these are listed towards the bottom)
5) Go into Preferences -> iCloud and set "My Info"
6) Again click Groups in the top left, choose iCloud addressbook, and select the new contact you made for yourself in step #3

Now when you tell Siri "Joe is my brother" she'll remember!

Well what i just did was, download my gmail contacts to my MacBooks address book. That inn return uploaded them tio my iCloud so now all my contacts are in iCloud and i can delete the active exchange. Maybe it will work better. Also i adjusted the names to sister and no sis..And instead of "sis friend" I put "tashas friend" .. Now lets hope it remembers "hooker #1" "don't pick up #1"
 
As many people have already stated, if you ask it to call your brother or whatever, it will ask and then remember for future use.

It's amazing though, I already asked it to call my dad text my dad call my mom text my grandparents and it all works flawlessly.
 
It recognizes 'fiance' too :) has anyone gotten it to work with something like 'my honey is Rick', or some other pet name?

Siri now knows my wife only as Sugar Momma.

Hope it works for you: I needed to keep my exchange setup for work so I didn't have the abandon-ship option you did :)

Nope still a bit off. I say "remind me to call mom at 202" then it ask "which mom"..I tried showing it off to my family and this thing has made me look really bad.

Try using it like normal people? It refers the keywords to the contact name; so if you have Jane as your mom and sugar momma as a contact, it's going to ask you to clarify.

All I had to do was say "Sarah Smith is my Sugar Momma" and it stored it...I didn't need to change Sarah's contact name and it didn't ask for clarification.

That's what I meant when I said Jane as your mother.

I have it set to my (name) as my mother right now so whenever I tell it to call my mom it calls my mom by her real name.

However, if you have another contact with mom in it it will be confused as to whether you want to call your mother with her real name or the contact with the name mom.
 
I have told siri who my brother, sister, wife and dad are, yet it always asks who they are after I ask them to call/text them. It is not remembering who I tell is my family member

1-my mom has a name besides mom?


2-if I even decide to put my moms name in my iPhone, siri will shoot me.. nunziata is her first name, her middle and last will blow the phone up lol.

Also,for safety reasons having mom and dad as mom and dad is a good idea..If someone has to call your parents from your phone,siri won't be their first choice. looking for mom and dad will be. (also putting ICE helps= in case of emergency)

How do I get Siri to recognize me? Do I have to set up contact for myself? I can't fi d where I Ned to go so that Siri knows who I am?

1) I set it up like this.

Call mom
"Who is your mother"?
Hit "Jane Goodall" in contacts popup after clicking on bubble

Now when I say, call mom
It says, "Ok, calling Jane Goodall"

2) I also have myself as a contact in my Contacts book. In there, I can set who is my mother, father, sister, etc. through editing my information.

Then by going to settings, general, siri, and entering my name from the contacts list, it has all of my information.

Well I'm keeping my mom as mom in my phone,but i put call mom (after making my profile default in siri) and it still says which mom. What now..I say mom and it just looks for all the moms in my phone even after telling it who my mom is.


edit-call MY mom instead of mom might be the answer..saying MY

its about pronoucing it. so try saying it with the u not how we say gold in spoken . say it how its read..
