i didn’t change anything or do any updates but when I made a Call using Siri today she suddenly has a brutish male voice. What’s the deal?

Somehow your regional settings changed. Either your keyboard or language. Changing either one of those will change the voice used for SIRI.

If you didn't change any of that then maybe someone borrowed your phone recently?

Not Sure how you inadvertently have a British accent for Siri, however; Settings->Siri & Search->Siri Voice.

And it is telling me I have to be connected to wifi to change the voice. This is so stupid. If I want to use up my data that should be my choice.

The voice you hear IS Siri. She just had some work done....

I’d think by now, Siri would have neither a male or female voice. After all, You can now be sued for saying “he” or “she” to a person who says they are “gender neutral”.

I’m surprised Apple hasn’t jumped on that to prevent upsetting someone.

Siri is a box. And was given gender identity. Surely someone will find that offensive.

Because she identifies as a man now (ze/zim/zir!). Check your cis white male privilege!
