So whenever I try using Siri with apps that are supposed to have integration, all I get back from Siri is "Sorry, you'll need to continue in the app". Everything is enabled in Siri settings. Anyone else having this issue?

The upshot for those just looking for a fix: issue seems to be related to apps updated prior to upgrading to iOS 10. Short term fix is to delete app and reinstall.

Specifically, which apps? Have they been updated yet in the app store for iOS 10?

I'm able to use Lyft with Siri.

Try the Siri query "I need a ride to the airport". On mine, Siri asks if I would like to use Lyft and gives me a button option on screen for using taxis or other local transport.

Apps must be updated to get that feature! I can easily ask siri" send a whats app message to John and it works...

Did you update those apps before upgrading to iOS 10?

Ok all, so here's some info. First off, all apps were updated to their latest prior to me upgrading last night. I upgraded via iTunes, not OTA. Toggled settings in Siri, didn't help. Rebooted phone, didn't help.

Finally, tried deleting and reinstalling app, and now it works. Both Lyft and Whatsapp. So clearly there is some bug with the update process.

From what I can tell based on yours and some testing that I've been doing is that the problem resulted from updating the apps before the iOS upgrade. Seems that there's a bug in iOS 10 preventing them from activating the new Siri extension after the OS upgrade. This also seems to be affecting other new extensions such as rich notifications and widgets built just for iOS 10. As you've found, reinstalling the App sorts things out. I hope Apple comes up with a proper fix quickly.

Also, this problem doesn't occur if the OS is upgraded before the Apps.

Interesting. Problem is that many will upgrade apps before upgrading iOS. Apple needs to fix this.

I had to go to Settings, Siri and activate WhatsApp and now it works. Ir should've been activated when the update installed but I guess this is how it'll work by default.

I don't agree that they should update by default, as that could lead to some unfortunate results (summoning rides by accident comes to mind). But there should be a toggle presented when it is installed, rather than users having to dig around in settings.

In the App support section? I had already tried that. It had no affect. There is clearly an upgrade bug preventing apps from working correctly. As mentioned, deleting and reinstalling corrected the issue.

Apps are meant to request permission which should result in the user being prompted whether they allow Siri for that App similar to permissions like camera access. The problem is that the entire Siri extension as well as other new extensions don't become available to the user if the OS upgrade was done after installation of the new app.

I wonder if the fix will come from developers pushing out another update to their apps. I've deleted and reinstalled all my compatible apps,so won't be able to test now.

I'm another one with this issue. Also updated all my apps before upgrading to iOS 10

No widgets issue even happens in ios9. It's the app updated to ios10 support that causes them to fail even on ios9. I know because it happened e my bank app and people were mentioning it on the bank fb page as well. Reinstall of the app fixes it in ios9 as well.
