Hi all

One of my most beloved functions of my iPhone 6 has stopped working: voice recognition/dictation. When I click the microphone icon on the screen keyboard or when I start Siri the voice recognition mode starts fine. However even in completely quiet environments the waveform shows some wild action when there is only silence. After a few seconds Siri tells me it was not able to understand, same for the keyboard.

Interesting details:
  • Both Siri and dictation work fine as soon as I use a headset
  • The microphone itself seems to work fine for regular phone calls, FaceTime, video recording, also in other apps like WhatsApp

What I have tried so far:
  • Turning Siri off and on again
  • Performing an iOS update to the latest version
  • Performing a backup to iTunes and restoring that backup
  • Resetting the iPhone without using iTunes
  • Using the ‘Restore iPhone’ function in iTunes without restoring a previous backup (setting up the iPhone as 'new device')
  • Calling Apple support – who say that they’re sorry but I’d be four weeks out of support and they could repair/exchange my iPhone for a flat fee of ~300 Dollars.

Anyone with an idea that I could try ?

Thanks for any advice.

Vandroiy.

Well it seems like you have a technical problem.
As you mentioned all possible ways you have tried.
Try to delete your iOS & reinstall latest iOS through iTunes, maybe this will help you.
