Whew! Mine is working again too! Thankyajesus!
I probably sent 80% fewer emails and texts yesterday. I just can't be bothered with that keyboard!

Thanks for the advice on Dragon Dictation. I'll load that so that in the event this happens again, I'll be ready! :)

No dice, still

I'm still getting the 3 purple dots of voice recognition death when trying to dictate anything. Let's just say that my responses to text messages are running about 50% shorter than usual.

This has been going on for 3 or 4 days. I'm in Chicago, using AT&T as my provider.

voice to text issues

I've been reading these posts with eager interest since neither my voice to text nor Siri were working this morning. I thought the server explanation made sense. I found out, however, that they all started working when I turned off my WiFi. I could not check for new mail, install updates, use voice to text, or use Siri while I was using WiFi. When I turned WiFi off, they all started working normally.

Is this normal? Anyone have an idea or an explanation?

Found out my problem...the phone showed the WiFi bars at the top, but it wasn't actually connected. I rebooted the WiFi, and got it to work. At least I know now that WiFi shouldn't interfere with Siri or voice-to-text. Thanks.

Strike three

There are times where I'll try the microphone/voice to text functionality on my iPhone, and it doesn't work multiple times in a row. This is most aggravating when I'm trying to say a long phrase and it needs to be somewhat particularly expressed… the microphone is registering me speaking, but as soon as I hit "done", nothing happens and then I end up having to say the entire thing all over again. Sometimes it happens up to three times in a row. One of the main reasons I got this phone was because of voice-to-text functionality; this has been a colossal disappointment. It happens on both Wi-Fi and 3G, it's completely random and arbitrary as far as when and how it happens, but it is more frequent than not. For crying out loud, Android works better than this!

Oh my goodness, what a run around I got with Apple Service. None of the fixes worked for me so I was asking what my options were since the phone is only 2 weeks old. I was told that the servers were being worked on for the new release and it should be resolved within 24 hours. I then told him my text to speech has not worked for 5 days. Sheesh. I'm ready to return my phone I'm so frustrated. :(

You guys do understand that there's a launch date ahead right? Apples servers are being geared up for iOS 6, and (most likely) about 10,000 or so new iPhone users. I read through this thread, and all it's whining, just shaking my head. For a forum full of geeks, you guys are kind of slow...

It's temporary. Untwist your panties and have a beer. Jeez.
