- iPad still doesn't have a native Calculator app.
- Apple TV is very limited in what can be installed.
- HomePod has been an ugly stepchild in the ecosystem landscape.

I wonder if we'll ever see a day when these platforms will be more aligned?

A year from now? Probably not. WWDC 2025? Maybe. They're just now catching up.

Not just catching up. Generative AI is brand new on the scene and entirely different from the pre-programed "Assistant" bots that we've been using. Can you ask Alexa to write an article?

It was just this past September when Amazon started "previewing" a version of Alexa with Generative capabilities.

Cool. Now tell me how to get the HomePod two rooms away from responding to the "Hey Siri" request intended for the phone sitting on the table next to me.
so this! Why the heck does this even happen!? Or when Homepod and iPHone are next to each other, it randomly decided which device to answer -- even saying "set timer on homepod" doesnt always work

Now if you could stop it from playing crap music. I always question why I can’t say never play rap. The majority of humans with an iq higher than tepid bath water don’t want to listen to that crap.
lol what year are you in?

Will this update bring my useless bricked OG back to life? It was good while it lasted. 3 years then poof. Such a disappointment and zero help from Apple. No wonder they discontinued these things.

but they brought it back with an updated version.

That capacitor problem (probably) is annoying. Just had to replace 1 of my 4. Just waiting for the other 3 to fail.

Let's hope when Siri says, ‘Okay' and chooses a selection from your own Library it doesn't sprinkle in random similar artists or albums from works in your artist discography that you currently haven't added or bought.

Build playlists off of what you listen to and preselect that in Home.app. It's not hard. From there, Apple Music will build your tastes from what you tell it to learn.

"Who's Speaking?" GD Apple, please get rid of this! Happens several times a week, I'm the only male in the house, and my HomePods are on the latest 17.4 beta.

It has been briefly discussed here on Mac rumors, but there is a guy in Bellevue Washington, that is able to fix most of the OG HomePods for what I feel is a reasonable price. Nics fix dot com

I suggest turning off all “smart” features and using them as simple speakers. It’s obviously not for everyone, but doing that made me a lot happier
Even the ‘dumb’ features are implemented horrible.

Connecting is a drag and the playback (wifi only) delay horrendous.

HomePod mini always ruins the flow. Last weekend my friend brought his cheap ass Bluetooth speaker and it felt like pure magic! An afternoon with uninterrupted fun with deferent ppl putting different songs from their different phones without the 3 second delay or the occasional disconnection.

Implementing stupid sh*t like “it will now learn (after 3 years) what service you like to use!” (But not Spotify because we’ve been bulling them so hard that they got fed up with us), just shows they still don’t get it.

I truly hope the expected AI Siri\IOS overhaul is not going to be a huge restricted let down.

The boomer company makes solid hardware, the sound is great. Although, I remember them turning down the max volume down with 50% a year after release because the vibrations made it lose it’s precious Wi-Fi connection. I also remember them blaming their costumers wifi connection up until the day of the “update”.

Except this year might actually be a year with noticeable differences. Apple just canned their car project to focus on generative AI. You'd have to think Siri will get a lot better this year.

They terminated their car project due to project mismanagement, and now the employees who weren't fired are working on implementing AI.

I share hopes that Siri will get the overhaul it deserves but remember… They had a generative Siri in the works (black bird) a while back but axed it if favor of, no joke, 25 writers writing the siri responses.

The way they bragged about the predictive text and spellcheck (AI) improvements last year and the reality (still googleing spellchecks on the daily because apple cant figure out obvious words with miner typo’s) makes me fear the worst.

This is precisely why I abandoned Apple Music. My tastes lean towards classical music, old rock, and traditional European melodies – a bit old-fashioned, I admit. Despite my preferences, I often found myself bombarded with rap and hip-hop tracks. I spent months trying to tailor the system during my subscription, but to no avail. The experience was dismal, far worse than merely being ‘inferior’ to Spotify. It’s baffling how one moment I could be listening to Edith Piaf or Gainsbourg, only to have rap music thrust upon me shortly after. Truly astonishing!!!

This command isn‘t working for me on any device (Switzerland) or am I missing something?
I can‘t say for example „Play XY Radio on Tunein“. Just plays a random song on Apple Music.

Good. Expecting Siri to become much smarter with the next major update.

If it doesn't support all available languages, it's still going to fall short. Let's see how it goes. For those of us who are multilingual, we're not just looking for a wider range of languages, but crucially, for more accurate translations as well.

You'd be surprised at how intelligent tepid bath water is

The one product from Apple that I have is a true Love hate relationship is the HomePod. This thing has frustrated me to no end. The sound is wonderful and when it works it’s beautiful. Still too many occasions “ I didn’t get that, working on it , hmmm taking too long, there is a problem with Apple Music“ then all speakers just stops playing or one or two stops and the rest plays. Then the volume suddenly increases then decreases... The Audio is beautiful with Homepod, but the software and Siri is pure GARBAGE.
Glad it’s not just me experiencing this.

The experience is extremely poor when trying to discover music in other languages. For multilingual users, it feels nearly worthless. I apologize for my strong language – it's not my usual tone, but I've invested a lot in Apple's ecosystem, which I genuinely adore. It's baffling why they seem to disregard the needs of non-English speakers.

But will they ever introduce an update where Siri will check your library first when you tell it to play a song? It plays so many stupid remixes of songs if you don’t include “from my library” when giving it a command…
Or even just resume music from earlier day and not shuffle automatically.

Do you know what I can't stand? Wife asks the device to play christmas music starting end of November through December... or asking siri to play relaxing jazz for the dog while we go out doing errands. Then when I'm in my car in July playing my 'for me' piece, I'm fast forwarding past that stuff time and time again. Context Apple... come on.
