Anybody else having this issue? The solution online seems to be subscribing to Apple Music, which I have no desire to do so.

Each time I request a specific song I get an error message.

Edit: To be clear, I'm asking Siri via my Watch.

Yep you will need to either be a member of Apple's music service or have the song on your phone. I just asked Siri to play songs in my phone's music and it did so with no problem.

I'm requesting songs stored on my iPhone. It won't ever play one. Always an error message. I'm seeing this is a known issue and the 'solution' is to join Apple Music.

Sorry. Realize you are trying to play music via Siri on your watch. Mine will not do that, even if the songs are in my library.

I'm guessing because you asked the question in the Watch forum that you are asking Siri via your watch. Do you have the song you're asking for loaded onto your watch? I'm guessing that Siri on the watch can't see the music stored on your phone when you ask it to play a song. (I don't have music loaded onto my watch so I can't really test it out)

Before 'guessing' :D why didn't you try this out? Then you would know it plays music from your iPhone.

It's supposed to be able to without having the music on the Watch.

There is a thread about this over at the Apple discussion boards. Same issue. Someone called Apple support and they had no solution.

I have 0 songs loaded onto my phone and my watch. I use spotify. I was just trying to offer a suggestion.

I asked Siri to "play Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin". No dice.

I then asked to "play Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin." Played immediately.

I own both songs and both are physically on my iPhone.

Maybe Jimmy Page forbids Stairway to be played on a watch.

Same problem here. Ask Siri to play a song on iPhone via the watch and no joy. I will say, however this used to work for me a month or two ago but recently a stopped for some reason. Would be good to get an answer.

I believe the issue is Apple Music. Solutions online push people to join the service (no thanks). I hope the 2.0 Watch update will fix this issue. Would be really nice to bring up an individual song.
