I was browsing my health data and just discovered the Six minute walk.
It says 500m. Is this good or bad?
What does yours say?

Hmm, mind shows the same amount of time. No idea what it means.

(For those looking, it's in the "Mobility" category in the Health app).

Found mine, but it says “no data”. Umm, I know I’ve walked more than six minutes. It isn’t something you have to actively turn on is it?
I looked further into it and the Data source for this data is the iphone. So this is not an Apple watch subject any more. Haha

Mine also says no data. I’Ve actually gone for a 20 minute or longer walk twice in he past week. Guess I’ll have to STEP my game up.

The 6 minute walks test is used by transplant centers and other medical bodies to determine someones physical fitness and general mobility.

I can't see anyway to turn it on. I wonder if this requires a 3rd party app that tracks and calculates this? I do see that my watch is now tracking "stair speed up" and down and that started automatically with the S6 and/or wos 7,.

Since it is in the Health app, I assume it is in iOS 14... I also noticed that you can manually add data, just what I do when I do indoor cycling. So there might not be an app or device connected to this.
Also, in the Mobility section in the Health app are a bunch of other metrics that I never noticed before:

I did go through everything in the mobility section and everything in the screenshot seems to be phone-data except the 6min walk and stair speed up and down.
For the 6 min walk it says that the day COULD come from the watch, so this might be a future feature.
fir the stairs up/down, this is coming from the watch but it requires a higher flight than I have at home since I have no data, and with COVID, I’m staying home ...

Mine was able to capture stairs speed at home.
Our double support % is identical!

FYI - the "Six Minute Walk" is apparently a measure used to monitor pulmonary hypertension patients.

So I'm kinda thinking that unless your medical doctor is doing something with you on that topic, we probably needn't be concerned about it.

Agreed, but the description in the Health app could indicate that it is a future AW feature...

It is a metric pulmonologists and cardiologists use to estimate physical and cardiopulmonar fitness in patients with lung or heart's diseases (you name it, asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, surgically diminished lung volume, angina, etc.)

In case anyone is interested in reading more about 6MWT, here is an interesting paper by Li et al. from 3 years ago, talking about integrating gadgets and wearables to the 6MWT.
