If I have to choose I will go for the Plus size.the 1080p 5.5 display and longer battery life is were no iPhone can compete against Plus models.+you can also buy 32 GB (if storage is not the problem)iPhone 7 Plus for that money

Which would YOU rather have assuming each was the same price?

A.) iPhone 6S+ 128gb (screen size)
B.) iPhone 7 128gb (speed)

The iPhone 7 is ahead of its time and price aside, adapters and wireless accessories for it just adds on to the cost outside of the device itself. Not to mention without headphone jack, you can't simultaneously charge device and plug in headphones at the same time.

What it comes down to is camera, if you want extremely good photos and you feel the quality of the two lenses far exceeds what your looking for from iPhone 6S+... then the 7 is the obvious choice, otherwise, your almost better off waiting or getting a substitute phone until the 2017 iPhone comes out.

To add to the well written post above, OP the 6s is still a blazing fast phone on ios 10 it is worth mentioning

I have a 6s and 7 right beside me both on ios 10 and they are almost identical in speed. Somethings the 7 is a bit faster at (largely thanks to the faux home button registering presses faster) but surprisingly or unsurprisingly some things the 6s is still faster and some apps or animations are faster on the 6s...Keep that in mind when thinking about processing power as a reason to go for the 7, because it's not a noticeable gap (I presume it's just due to the still modern and still powerful A9 being faster than the less power consuming cores of the A10's big.LITTLE architecture ).

The differences in speed between the two are so incredibly minor that you won't notice it at all.

The processors are built on the same node, They have the same ram, same finger print reader and the cameras are mostly identical on the 6s plus and regular 7 save for slightly better low light pics and both have OIS

I would agree with all of the above comments. Not much perceived difference in speed, water resistance a plus. I've dunked an older phone in water and had no issues, although it was only immersed for a second or so. Size is a personal preference. I like the larger size as it's easier to see and use the keypad. I find I often use the phone rather than my iPad since it's much easier to carry. Didn't do that when I had the smaller phone. When I purchase a shirt I just make sure that it has a large enough pocket to hold it.

What hasn't been mentioned is the Camera. I have the 7+ and I find that I use the 2x zoom feature a lot. Since I take a lot of photos that for me is the killer feature, the other features are just nice.

What about a mint 6S+ 64gb with 6 months warranty left on it for $450? I know its not either of the two I had listed in the poll, but is that a fair price for this one?

I have a 7 Plus right now after using a 6S Plus for about a year. I can tell you that I have not noticed any difference in speed or performance. Both phones are blazing fast.

I have iPhone 7 and I love it because it's the right size, but my daughters iPhone 6s Plus is a touch snappier, perhaps only seemingly due to the animation stutter.

My wife got a 7 to replace her 6, which was a huge improvement in speed for her. And from the limited time I've played around with it, the camera improvements in low light are noticeable and significant. So if you take a lot of photos, including those in limited light situations, the 7 is the clear winner. That being said, battery life is going to be far better with the 6s+, or 7+ for that matter. I've got a 6s+ and have desire no reason to upgrade at this point. I'll hold out for the 8 or whatever the 10 year anniversary version is, assuming it will be a big jump in specs and looks.

Thanks all for your feedback. I decided to stay with the iPhone 7. I also have a cheapie LG G3 that I can use once in a while for games or browsing (wish the 7+ had that form factor! same 5.5" screen, but smaller in hand).

My 6S+ is a lightning bolt. It should be "size vs little speed improvement" it isn't like your comparing the 6 to it.
