Sounds like fall is the soonest this iPad Air / Pro style mini will arrive. Too bad, was hoping to see it sooner.

Drop the "mini" and just categorise them as screen sizes:
iPad - 9", 11", 13"
iPad Pro - 9", 11", 13"
This should have happened years ago. There’s no reason not to make the iPad screen size just like the phone/Macs now....

This is my dream iPad. I have been wishing for an iPad mini pro with a flat edged design that can use the 2nd gen apple pencil for awhile now. I am an artist, and love sketching on my 11” iPad Pro. But sometimes I want to travel light and wish I had a smaller iPad to sketch on. Yes, I know the latest iPad mini can use the first gen Apple pencil, but I refuse to buy it. I don’t want 2 apple pencils! I want to be able to use my 2nd gen Apple pencil with both my 11” iPad Pro & the iPad mini pro. I really hope Apple just gets rid of the first gen apple pencil & makes all future iPads with the flat edged design. Being able to charge your Apple pencil by attaching it to the side of your ipad magnetically is so much more convenient. I always thought the first gen apple pencil was awkward to charge and so un-apple like. Anyway, that’s my rant. First world problem i know. But I hope this rumor is true. 👍🏼

I just feel that. This year is going to be the year of great stuff.. Plenty gonna be available on the market soon

Probably an iPad Air (A14) with smaller chassis
With USB-C/Touch ID top button and no ProMotion Display/Smart Connector/Magic Keyboard Cover

I will just order it right away if It has ProMotion Display

Honestly, the Mini I had is still to this day my most favorite iPad. But making a Pro version out of it, can't really think there will be too many reasons to justify such a higher price. Instead, a Mini Air would make more sense I think.

Me not like this stagger release of new iPads models unless Apple stating what is coming out for a full year time horizon. It places the consumer in a bind if he or she purchase a model release that they did not want if they knew in 3-6 months; their ideal iPad model would be release in short time afterward.

Tim, you say you miss Steve, maybe you should watch this again

But Tim hired traditional management systems and listens to metrics...which lead to an insane stock price. So he’ll be there until either he retires, does something publicly stupid, or the stock starts to tank.

They really need to clean up the product line, the iPad is becoming the modern day equivalent to the Performa line. I would have the iPad mini start at the lower price of $329 with a bezel reduced larger screen, the current iPad Air can stay at $599 but drop the “Air” discontinue the 11 inch iPad Pro and only sell the 12 inch iPad as the Pro model at $899.

In the last three years, I've been interested in an iPad mini. My 2017 car has an angled NAV unit; configured so that an iPad mini could lean right up against the screen while resting on two rubber control knobs. This approach would be a poor man's CarPlay head unit, but it would work for the occasional long drives. Unfortunately, this is likely one of two options I have. I like built-in head units with integrated CarPlay whenever I rent a higher-end car.

Mini Rant: I wish Apple would drop the 'Pro' designation except for the current Mac Pro. Sometimes I'm embarrassed when I'm around my Android friends. Those with an IQ higher than a house plant may understand. Perhaps a simple change to 'plus' would be more realistic and less bullshi**y.

Apple should do this

iPhone Mini, iPhone, iPhone Max
iPad Mini, iPad, iPad Max
MacBook, MacBook 14”, MacBook 16”
iMac 27”
Mac Cube

Just pick your size and it should already come with what Pros need but everyone gets it. 32GB standard on the 14” & 16” MacBook...

Just pick your storage size and color.. And we are pretty much covering 99% of peoples needs with the same chip.

Heck M1 is basically the same chip for all the bottom tier computers

Try as hard as you can to drop the “Pro” brand... Everyone is a pro and Apple should really focus and democratize the latest technology for everyone... Sure they want profits- but I bet they can secure the same profits by selling everyone one device instead of a Pro on or off device.

It just burns me that Apple will make the "iPad mini Pro" that no one asked for, but will undoubtedly ignore everyone who wants the upcoming iPhone 12S/13 mini to be a mini Pro.

Kinda tells me they’ll make it so the Pro has the thin bezels and the regular will look like the older Minis. Imagine getting a device with bezels like that in 2021 lol.

Obviously nothing was announced so nobody really knows but it does sound like a classic apple price gouging move by inventing new “tiers” instead of just offering the best of the best they can make in one model like they used to

My old iPad mini 4 is ready for an upgrade. I guess I'm going to wait to see what happens with this rumor.

Once again....LOST IN TRANSLATION. The new mini will "look" like a pro. But so does the air. This is simply the redesigned mini. Not much to see here. It'll allow them justify a $399 price tag. I highly doubt it will have promotion, dual cams or an X series processor. Theres just not enough market to justify all that. People love the mini but its rather niche.

Remember back in 2013 the iPhone 6+ was rumored to be called the iPhone 6 "math". LMAO.
