Skin under back case to protect from magnet scratching?

I am debating putting a Skinomi skin UNDER my Smartshell 2 rear case to protect the iPad from getting scratches from the smart cover magnet hinge. I've heard it may be an issue but also heard otherwise.

Is that a bit too much and I am being OCD or is it a good idea?

Do what you want but do know that the skin brings added thickness and may render your back case useless.

I went a whole year with my iPad 2/ smart cover combo without a scratch. Doing the same now with my new iPad.
