Has anyone found any companies selling skins to cover up the Plateau area of the 17 pro phones? I see that Dbrand has skins for the entire phone, but don’t see anything just for the plateau area.

I imagine this could be something in demand- most cases leave the entire plateau exposed, and a clear film to cover the plateau area might make people feel like the phone is more protected. Alternatively, changing the color of the plateau could be something that some useful.

I ordered a skin from Slickwraps, it was under preorder so I am not sure when it will be delivered so I can't 100% say that the Plateau will be covered

I’ve grabbed one of these. Not sure how good it is until the phone arrives!

Be careful I see that the frame of that is aluminum, and I have seen around the forums documentation from Apple that indicates to not put metal in the "plateau" as it can interfere with some of the components in that area.

Also an update to the shipment of the skins I was emailed from Slickwraps that preorder shipments will go out between the 22nd and 24th of this month.

Interesting point with most of the components up there now. I had one of these camera covers on my 14P and when I compared the photos in detail (blown up on a monitor) I could see differences, it'd also mess with the autofocus from time to time. I still hate laying my phone down on top of the camera even though my 16P lens/ring doesn't show any signs of wear over the past year (I regularly place my phone down on tables, surfaces etc...)

exactly! I always try to warn people whenever i see that they use the lens protectors, but like you stated the difference is fairly minimal and maybe that is just the pixel peeper in me. Also, with regards to the metal frame since the cellular antennae of course it will take testing and just like the lens covers it may very well be minimal, but something to note for sure.

I'm guessing the average person is looking/using the photos on their phones and social media where you'd unlikely see the difference. For me, it was mainly those times where the autofocus spazzed out that was most annoying. I'm not a photo snob by any means, but I need my phone to take pictures quickly, clearly, and seamlessly.

I’m a hobbyist photographer, and wouldn’t suggest putting anything over your camera lens. I started this thread looking for a skin that covers only the plateau. I’m thinking it could be a nice to have if you want to change the color most visible part of the phone, and also potential scratch protection (not for the lens, as it is sapphire, but for the aluminum plateau).

The Dbrand and Slickwraps cover the entire phone, not just the plateau. I was thinking something that covers only the plateau that would cost a couple bucks. Otherwise, you are shelling out $20-30+ and only using the plateau piece. Seems wasteful.

Have you tried asking SW if they would sell you a single piece? I’ve done that in the past, albeit a very long time ago for the 6 plus.

I didn’t, but that’s an idea. I’m not in a rush though, so am willing to wait and see what comes out. I have a feeling that within a few weeks, there should be tons of them on sites like Aliexpress, etc. But who knows, I may be wrong.

Bumping up this thread, as I see all the discussion about scratches on the new phones. Hopefully some makers will start selling clear and/or colored films for the plateau.
