Local place does a replacement for ~120-140 and is local in town compared to the hour drive to Apple.

Apple is also (as far as I know) more expensive and I do not have AppleCare+. My only worry is this local place does not calibrate the screen.

I have to say I'm ignorant when it comes to this topic, so I wanted to ask the community, is it vital to have the phone calibrated when a new screen is put on?

In the US, Apple charges $129 to replace an iPhone 7 screen. There's no question about where I'd go. https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair/screen-damage

They're more expensive but you get an actual OEM screen that also gets calibrated.
And for the price of the local place you mentioned, you can go to Apple!

Regardless of the drive you have got to go to Apple. Apple replaces with oem everything ...

Thanks guys did not know Apple was that low in price to replace. I will for sure eat the drive for piece of mind.
