Other Skip the 18 and get the XX

I would recommend anyone who feels casual or reluctant about wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 18 family to wait just a bit longer and get the anniversary phone. The times feel much like back during the introduction of the X skipping the iPhone 9. Rather than being like iPhone 8 users, not that it was a bad phone but the X was a significant change in design. Enough to the extent its guaranteed carrot on the stick tactics.

So avoid getting carroted on a stick and just wait for the anniversary phone. Make the temptation completely optional.

In my opinion, you are giving people bad advice. The 18 hasn't been released. And further more, no one outside of Apple knows for sure what the iPhone 20 specs and abilities will be. As such, the best thing to do is to wait for the 18 official release. At that point, one can access need / want to current budget and make a purchase decision on the 18. The iPhone 20 should not even enter the decision making process at this point in time.

Here's another way to look at it: The anniversary phone is the one to avoid as the greater risk of being a dud.

A brand new phone design brings increased risk of new, unseen faults and problems with it. All glass? Hmm... All shatter, perhaps. As difficult to hold on to as a wet bar of soap.

Safer to either get the final refinement of the current design in the form of the 18, or wait for the first replacement of the anniversary phone... the Anniversary-R you might call it.

Uhh, no. It's the other way around, the 18's will be the better phone in terms of durability, affordability, and ease of use in some cases based on the current rumors. I would go for the 16e, 17e, or the 18e if they do make another iPhone e. Or maybe the iPhone SE just because of simplicity and due to the fact that I wouldn't do a lot with it.
