i am a paramedic and this reminds me of doing ER rotations and people coming in with Various objects stuck in the behind.

they come in the ER complaining about a stomach ach and when the Dr. gets there they pull them close and say, "I dont have a stomach ach, I have a Smurf figurine stuck in my...."

When i was about 5 i stuck a fruit snack up my nose. It got stuck and I had to go to the ER to have it sucked out. :D

If you're close with your dentist, you could take it there and have them use their tiny vacuum to get it out.

Yeah, once I had a bean stuck in my ear canal because I used it as an earplug but it got way too far in. There was a very gentle vacuum that was able to suck out the bean without damaging the eardrum or anything else in my ear.

Surely the doctor would have something to suck it out!

The superglue and toothpick trick worked for this guy. The heated needle sounds like a good idea too if your hands aren't very steady and you're afraid you'll get glue on the sides of the jack.

I don't think you can disable digital out while something is in there. I believe there's a little physical button or switch back there that holds it on.

Use the straw from a duster can to suck it out.

I've had to suck a bead out of my 3yr old son's nose in the past. Disgusting but he was freaking and the ER was a distant possibility.

How about a small wood or sheet metal screw? Thread it into the offending skittle and gently pull it out. Of course you'd have to remove all power sources first.

I'm just baffled as to how the skittle completed the circuit in the headphone jack.

Wouldn't it have to be carrying a current? And umm... skittles are, well, skittles.
Older MacBooks had a micro switch inside the jack to turn off the speakers when something was in the jack. Not sure if the unibody ones still do...
