I'm sorry, but Skype 5 is just a lousy piece of software to use. Anyone know where I can get 2.8 again? It appears the Skype webpage only lets you download 5 now (even though it says you are downloading 2.8).

Isn it just?! It is atrocious!

I have no idea what's going on when using it. The interface is TERRIBLE!
 
They updated Skype? Is this the update they promised that was released for the windows version couple of months ago?
 
2.8 not working either

I’m about at the end of my rope, having posted about this repeatedly in Skype’s forums, with no response.

I didn’t do the update, and am still running 2.8.0.851 on my MBP. Lately, it’s quit dialing phone numbers. Doesn’t matter if I dial manually or click on the little green phone button to dial direct from my Skype address book. Nothing dials out (and yes, the 1+ is selected for U.S. calls).

Anyone have a clue as to what’s going on and how to fix it? This is driving me nuts.

The download on Skype's website is the same as the version I have installed: 2.8.0.866 --> looks like you just need to update:

Still no luck. When I click on a listing in my Skype address book, the dial out window flashes for a millisecond, then disappears. When I manually dial a call, the keypad works, but clicking the green dial button does nothing. Exact same pattern as before the update.

(Side note: when clicking “Check for updates” from inside Skype, it told me I had the most recent version before I followed the link you kindly provided. Go figure.)

This is really driving me nuts. Next idea, anyone...?
