skype defaults to headphones

Hello all

Does anyone know why Skype defaults to headphones on my powerbook

I set the prefs to infernal speakers, but it changes back to headphones when I close the prefs window (and reopen to check the settings stick)

I dont always have my headphones with me so it would be great if it would stay on - microphone for input and speakers for output - as default

anybody know of a solution
