I'm well aware that you can use the iPod/iPhone version on your iPad, but surely they wouldn't advertise that you can use it on the iPad without having a proper iPad App...

I'm confused! Anyone?

no.

3.0.1 is the old version for iphone/ipod. check the store and you will find that the skype app is still not available for ipad. you can use the iphone/ipod app, but it isn't properly optimized for the ipad. don't know what is taking them so long...
