Yes, but does it have four person video? ;)
i would think so, because you can have a four person conference call. none of my contacts are on, so i cant try it out, but i have it set so anytime i'm on a call it does video too. i would imagine if you are in a conference call the same would apply.

The video seems to work great, but man does it ever pound on the processors. Just run this on your MacBooks on a cold winter night and you'll be toasty.

finally, man! idk why all these instant messaging aplications never supported video. i always tried using my isight with ppl on iChat, but their stoopid Windoze machines never were able to accept it. i hope this works with ppl that have windoze.
i wonder when msn messenger will be having video support as well.

i just spoke to a freind with video and audio both pretty impressive

worked flawlessly!

video is no ichat however its quicker and uses small amount of bandwidth!

I've been using Skype for Windows since version 1.1. As soon as first Skype beta came out that promised video, I jumped on it. And I've been upgrading to new betas and versions evern since. Bu even with version 2.5, Skype won't recognize my webcam (a 3Com HomeConnect) on any of four PCs (three at home, one at work). My four other IM clients (MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AIM 5.9, and NetMeeting) have no problem recognizing the webcam and delivering video. Maybe its my firewall settings; I wish I knew.

where's the video preview? ive looked hi and lo on the skype page, and cant find it anywhere.

How big is the video window?

Everything I'd seen made it out to be very, very small. I suppose it doesn't matter if you're dealing with several people but one-on-one, it would be nice to have a decent size window for the video.

can i use my .mac name or my aim name with skype?

No. Skype is a standalone proprietary service, ie, Skype only works with Skype. I am not aware even of any 3rd party applications that let you log into Skype.

It actually works between me and my girlfriend, especially since she has a Dell. I gotta go get her a new webcam . . .

That won't change how she looks ;)

the new video skype beta is just awesome. works flawlessly with those on windows and the video quality is just as good as ichat, if not better (imho). :)

woohoo, finally... I'll d/l and test when I get home from work I think :)

looking forward to reading more on here from people that haves tested/tried

Hrmm, okay, after some testing, this works pretty damn well.

my MBP heat's up pretty fast when running video though (very cpu intensive?)

I phoned a mate with it last night (he uses XP on a laptop).. and we chat for a while, then i clicked my video icon,it came up a treat on his machine.

he didnt have a camera. then he asks me... "i got one of those playstation 2 EYETOY camera's, will that work?"... I said no...

after more chatting, and googling, we discover win XP drivers for the Eyetoy camera he has! hehe.. so we got to work and booyah, had it running, and it works VERY WELL....

His link
16Mb/1Mb ADSL
My link
1.5Mb/256K ADSL

the video was very very smooth, and audio was well in sync with vid...

I cant wait until Skype further refine this, (esp the cpu utilisation), etc... not that it's a problem for me, my MBP can handle it sweet, but yeah... I can see it can definately do with more refinement.

I'd also like more options, like ability to turn off my own vid preview window (pic in pic)... so i only see the person I'm chatting with, and my myself.

Skype kicks arse.

My wife is interstate at the mo. If she's online I skype with her, video.. (she has MBP too)... if she's not online, i just use my skype to call her hotel, ask for her room num, and boom, we **** skype -> phone.. costs me about 3 cents Aus a minute... dirt cheap :)

I love it!!!!!

(no i dont work for skype hahaha)
