Hi all.

Somehow, despite having the " ask before updating " box checked , Skype has added an update.
Even tells me that my old Skype password ,is no longer valid !
Now I have to sign in with a Microsoft Acc.

I thought I could evade this by downloading an older Skype version, but no matter what I do, either the download is the latest update, or if i do get an old version, it refuses to work.

This macbook air, is from 2014 and came with Yosemite, now updated to El Capitan.

On top of everything else, the download I have , does not work, saying that I have only completed half of my profile !

Does anyone have an idea on how to get around this, or are we stuck with this latest intrusive update ?

It seems you are stuck with the update. Something similar happened to me a few months back, but in my case I hadn't opened Skype for over a year. You have to associate your skype account with a microsoft one (like what youtube did with google accounts), however, after this, you can choose whether to sign in with the microsoft account or with your "old" skype credentials.

Yes, I understand that, and did create a Microsoft account accordingly.
However, on trying to log in, Microsoft does a pop up that says
Your old Skype password is no longer valid.
So I sign in with the new Microsoft account password, and it opens, saying Hello Jan.
Then nothing happens !
Even though I click on Contacts ...
Nothing happens, apart from the top bar going red & saying....." Connecting "

So any help will be greatly appreciated

Yes, I have found it impossible to access my Skype account as well.

Thanks for the responses !
I have not found any way of contacting Skype for an answer, but then again , at 62 I am not exactly clever with this internet stuff !
Why do they not have a post address ?
Does anyone know, if Skype is aware of the problem ?
Is Skype working on it ?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks In Advance
