Skype: Remove room noise

Hello,
I'm using skype a lot but there one thing that annoys me and that's the background noise my USB mic picks up.
So is there some way to remove the background noise before sending the audio over skype?

Have you seen those big fluffy microphones that TV camera crews use? Try a bit of foam or something around the mike.
