Ok so I'm officially am iPad 2 owner. Is it possible to download Skype for this thing? Text only is ok

I found Skype for the iPhone but it kinda sux on the iPad... Hope they release a iPad version

I'm guessing there was no skype on ipad because it didn't have a microphone.

Now that the ipad 2 has cameras and a microphone they'll probably be bringing an app out soon.

Yeah - sure there will be an update soon (though Skype are very slow at updating their app)

Bad guess. The 1st iPad has a microphone and I've been using Skype on it for quite a while.

I just downloaded skype and every time I try to make a call to another skype number it tells me I need to buy credits. I thought skype to skype was free?

It is free for doing text or voice or video chats with another skype user via their skype name added to your contact list. This would not include a skype phone number. I believe any call that dials a phone number carries a charge.

The original ipad has a mic how else would thos stupid talking tom cat apps work.

Yeah seriously.. downloaded it and turns out the screen was a tiny size like the iphone version. Hoping to see a updated skype for the the ipad soon.

Will not matter since the both camera's suck.

Just had my wife go outside on a nice sunny day, well within range of our AE. I'm using my 27" iMac to Skype with her and the video quality that either iPad2 camera puts out is so 2001.

I'm extremely interested in people's facetime experiences.. this is the only screenshot I've seen:

From this iPad 2 review:

When you tried it, did it look at good as the screenshot in the review?

Here is a quick video I just shot:

Please excuse my video skills.

Not bad at all, but this is very different from what I see on Skype using the same rear camera. I'm aware that it wont be exactly the same.

I shot a quick video with my HTC EVO 4g, I had issues uploading direct from the phone via wi-fi, so I hooked it up to my iMac via usb and dragged the file over to youtube for the upload.

Here is one with a iPod touch 32g latest gen:

When I make them all full screen on my 27" iMac, the iPad 2/iPod videos seems a little less grainy.

After upgrading nobody can hear me on skype and our attentive top can does not hear what I say any more. Very frustrating. When I update expected bettter performance but not I have problem.

I've been using Skype for iPhone on my iPad and it's fine. Not perfect, but fine. Just hit the x2 button and it will fill the screen. IMO the video quality you get is better than having no video at all. Of course I would be interested in a dedicated Skype program for the iPad.
