After happily using Tiger for years, I finally switched to SL with the purchase of a new 27 iMac. And I hate SL already. I accidentally removed the applications folder from the dock, and when I tried to get it back, it only comes on with the address book icon. Try this to see how retarded SL is: open the applications folder in finder, and drag it to the dock - when you release the mouse, it magically transforms the icon on the dock to an address book icon - why? WTF knows. It's retarded. Really, I've only spent a few hours on SL and I find it so chock full of bugs I wish I could go back to Tiger. How the f*** do I get the applications folder back on the dock with the right icon??

It is called stack view. The icons are stacked and since the Address Book comes first, it is on top. Don't freak out, there is an option by control clicking the icon in the dock. See attached.

Right (control) click on the folder in the dock.

Change "Display As" to "Folder".

Otherwise, it is a stack - which means the icon will reflect what is inside the folder.

when yu say address book icon do you mean the apps icon?

if you rightclick im sure there a option to show no icon view.

however it worked fine for me when i did it.

On another note - I'm loving the heck out of the magic mouse... I do miss the expose and dashboard buttons I used to use on the mighty mouse, but otherwise this thing is smoooooth :D:D:D!

You can set hot corners for Expose.
