hello all,

I restored SL dmg image to an paritition with disk utility

worked fine

started install and it tells me "install cant be started from this volume" ?

anyone know whats up?

I got the same error if I launched SL setup from within OS X, but it worked fine when I held Option key during startup (same as bootcamp) and selected to boot from my ext. drive

just tried

holding the option key pressed on startup didnt show up any choice
not even macintosh HD

didnt think of that...

lets see hehe

btw. thanks for the help

nop neither like that

just to make sure i did the image correctly

i went under restore:

source, the dmg image

destination
the partition on the usb HD

does the partition have a guid partition table, so it's bootable?

the partition is a normal os x extended journaled partition

if i go in system preferences, startup disk i see the parition with mac os x 10.6

select it for and restart but nothing

the partition is a normal os x extended journaled partition
Click on the drive in Disk Util, does it say: Partition Map Scheme: GUID Partition Table? It probably won't work otherwise.

no it doesnt say that,

but i did the same procedure with leopard and installed it no problem...

how do i get around in making the scheme if that is the problem?
