SL Upgrade disk...fresh install?

Can I use the SL upgrade disk (Plan to buy it tomorrow) to do a fresh install on a new non formatted hard drive? Just popped in a 1TB drive for the OS and want a fresh install.

Yeah, i'd like to know this as well. Having to install Leopard first then upgrade with the disk would be a pain.
