Currently use Autosleep, and wondering for those who have beta tested, or started using the Sleep App, how it has been for you? Wondering if it is more accurate and easier to use than Autosleep, or do I keep Autosleep.

It has been accurate for me. I don’t mind that it is rudimentary in the information provided. If i need something more in depth, I check AutoSleep or Pillow. I like that the new app has a charge and bedtime reminder.

do they all work well together? Do you allow the other 2 to write data to Apple Health? I can imagine they could be conflicting or overwriting each other.

I allow all to write to Apple Health. I haven’t experienced any conflicts that I am aware of. At times, there can be a significant difference between AutoSleep and Pillow data.

I am hoping we can find out more about the Blood Oxygen readings and how they are done in the background. For those of us with sleep apnea, more random checks while sleeping would be a good positive and potentially life saving for some people. I have a bad habit of taking my mask off in my sleep. It would be nice if the watch would alert me if I got lower than 90% to make me wake up and put it back on. During my sleep study, I got as low as 68% and they contemplated waking me up because of it.

Under Heath > Sleep > Data Sources > AutoSleep, Pillow, Clock, and Widget Wizard as toggled on to allow reading of the Sleep app data.

Yes, that's for read...but if 3 different apps get to WRITE....when I review the data, which data am I looking at? If there is occasionally a large discrepancy between the 3, are you seeing 3 different values or if only 1 value, which app wins?

I read that for the Blood Oxygen to take readings while sleeping, you had to have the native Apple sleep app as the primary source, or maybe at least running. Not too sure, it was in an article I read, but don't remember now. I too am interested in the SpO2 readings, and also like the indepth reading of AutoSleep, so we'll see when my Series 6 gets here.
Sold my series 4 a while back.

Answering my own question...when you drill down into the data, it shows sleep times from multiple sources and seems to maintain the separate entries. What I'm not clear on is which one appears in the main dashboard, but if I'm correct it appears that the Apple Watch data is displayed on the dashboard vs other sources.

Used the app last night. First, it seems like a PITA to find your sleep info. Have to dig in the watch, or go through Health app on phone. Too cumbersome

Another knock is i can’t seem to see how much deep sleep I got. That was a big selling points for me when I bought AutoSleep. Might have to go back to it.

I believe it show sleep data from Apple sleep app. If you want to see AutoSleep’s you can go to AutoSleep app.

I’m not sure how go through Health is cumbersome while we always check other things on it. Keep in mind Apple release sleep in conjunction with S6 with SPO2 launched. This is not a coincidence. Even though the data is basic right now, I believe it will start using those blood oxygen data at some point. Apple has a big plan for it.

Beside, you can use the sleep app together with AutoSleep and you can check AutoSleep data like you used to (in the app) so I don’t see why should we choose one over the other.

Very basic. I only tried it last night, the only thing it seems to show you is just how long you've slept? I hope they improve it over time so it can show more detailed info, but realize that it could be limited due to the limits in what the watch can actually measure.

Any one else have this issue with the Sleep app on the watch? Mine shows the time in bed to be less than the time asleep. How could this be, unless the watch thinks I am sleep walking.

The Sleep app is not about detailing the kind of sleep or the heart rate during each sleep cycle. It is merely about tracking the time asleep versus time in bed. So that a person can learn to get into a more consistent routine before bed. It wasn’t designed to compete with AutoSleep or Pillow.

I told you in my first post that the Sleep app was very rudimentary. And finding your results in the morning is very easy. it only takes 2 taps of the finger to see one’s results.

I like the app. Yes it is pretty basic but works well. My only issue is the alarm tune. I have to select which tune I want to hear in the morning each day as it always defaults to “Early Riser”. I mean if tonight I select “Sunny” and dont go back to the app, tomorrow it will play “Early Riser” again. I have my alarm time set for the same time every morning but any tune I select only plays the next morning then the following morning it will be back to “Early Riser” unless I select a different tune. I hope I explained that right! It seems silly to have to select a tune every night if I want the same tune.

I have a Beddit and I wonder how the sleep app and the Beddit app will work together. They're both by Apple and I'm sure Beddit was used in the development of the watch's sleep app. It'll be interesting to see if they push a Beddit update that would allow it to work together with the watch.

Sounds to me like you're doing it wrong (setting it in a place where it is intentionally a 1 time settting) or there is a bug.

If a bug, you should report it.

I'll see if I can replicate.

Used it last night. It is okay. I don't know if the vibrating alarm is strong enough to wake me up by itself, but I also have my lights set to come on one minute after the alarm goes off so that should solve that problem.

There's not much data shown. Last time I had a fitness tracker that measured sleep was my Jawbone Up3 and it had many more details. I'm fine just knowing how long I was asleep though. It should give a better picture of long term heart rate (and soon blood oxygen when I receive my S6) since it can measure that periodically during sleep.

I will say this. I don't think Apple does a good enough job when you are setting up your sleep schedule of explaining which days you are applying it to. For example, I set things up for a bed time of 11:30PM with a wake up time of 6:45AM on weekdays. But when I pick my days it's not clear if I should set this up for Sunday through Thursday (i.e. the nights that the bedtime applies), or Monday through Friday (i.e. the mornings that the wake up time applies). I've figured it out since, but it's not clear when you are doing the setup process.

I have a slightly on topic question. If I use a third party app such as Pillow or Autosleep, should I turn the native sleep tracking off? Would keeping the native sleep tracking features on while using a 3rd party app just be overkill and drain the battery? Thanks.

They both pull from the same source and work great together (auto sleep and native sleep).
