Has anyone been using the sleep app to monitor oxygen rates at night? I'm seeing some concerning numbers and was wondering how accurate it is?

I use two apps but only one is needed but both are excellent with accurate sleep tracking and tons of useful info. Turns Apple Watch into a competitor to Fitbit.

Here’s a link, educate yourself here….

I’ve been using the AW S7 Blood Oxygen at night. My primary use of the AW is to keep track of medical information e.g. Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen, Respiratory Rate and the occasional ECG. I export these measurements each morning and plot them in Excel. The quality of the measurements seem OK.

I’m happy with the frequency of the Heart Rate and Respiratory Rate measurements during sleep. But the Blood Oxygen measurements during sleep are pretty sparse. I typically get less than a half dozen Blood Oxygen measurements per night, compared to 40+ Respiratory Rate measurements. It would be useful to get Blood Oxygen measurements which correlate to the Respiratory Rate measurements or some subset of them.

Is there any way to increase the frequency of Blood Oxygen measurements during sleep?

What are your AW O2 readings during the day?

Have you compared the AW O2 to the O2 readings from a Finger Pulse Oximeter?

FWIW my AW7 O2 readings are almost identical to the readings from my ChoiceMMed Finger Pulse Oximeter.

How are you wearing your watch? I cut the o2 setting off and will just take manually sometimes. I like wearing my watch fairly loose unless exercising so I was getting a lot of inaccurate numbers.

I’d take a hard look at my Respiratory Rate to see if the low Blood Oxygen readings correspond to times with low a Respiratory Rate.

In my experience, while still in the hospital recovering from surgery, etc the nurses set the blood oxygen warnings to around 90%. If it drops that low, a warning sounds and a nurse comes in to get me to breathe deeply.
