Sleep Button Occasionally Doesn't Work: Software?

Occasionally when I hit the Sleep button nothing happens. The home screen will freeze and when I try to slide to another page it freezes with half the icons slid over. Only when I hit the button once or twice does the screen go black. Hitting the sleep after this brings me to the unlock screen.

The freezing home screen leads me to believe this is a software issue, not hardware, so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Hmm, this doesn't look promising if no one else has had this issue. I will probably wait for the next software update and see if it changes anything before returning it.
