I'd like to have my watch and iPhone track my naps (or at least have the option to). Once, with watchOS 8, I switched to Sleep focus, took a nap, and the watch / iPhone recorded it. But I've tried several times since then and it never records my naps. I'm now using watchOS 9 on an series 4 watch. I'm going to upgrade to series 8 as soon as it arrives but I'm not expecting this particular things to change.

I haven't found a way for it to track sleep outside of my set overnight schedule. Be nice if Apple added this ability considering other health wearables like Oura Ring can do this.

Why there is so many people with problems with sleep tracking?.

All my naps always have been registered.

There's no need for sleep focus or change schedule or something.

Have you done anything more than set up Sleep for night times? I nap most days and it won’t recognise them for me unless I tell the watch I plan to be in bed 2300-1800 which isn’t ideal.

IF you turn on sleep focus while you nap it will record it. Not automatically
That’s not been my experience. If it’s not during the sleep hours I’ve set in the watch, it doesn’t track.

I have a random sleep schedule (00:00 to 08:00). Only use alarms some days, but I use the alarms out of sleep settings. Some days lile today i wake up at 5am, other days at 9am. For my job I can’t keep a regular sleep schedule.

I always enable do not disturb mode when go to sleep (night sleep or nap) because I don’t want any kind of notification.

If I take a nap after lunch, I enable do not disturb mode and that’s all. At least with WatchOS 8. With new OS I don’t take a nap yet.

As I said in other topic, now with sleep stages on WatchOS 9 if I wake up before end of my sleep schedule (8 am) and I go to see sleep data, I only see old data (time in bed and that). Before 8 am the watch ask me if I am awake. I select “yes” and then all new sleep data is shown.

But the watch do it all automatically except for enable/disable do not disturb mode (I want to do it manually).

I don’t really speak english so… hope you understand what I want to say.

Same here. I have a set nightime sleep schedule on the Watch set. But when I go to take a nap (turn on Do Not Disturb-> Sleep) it doesn't record anything.

I had issues as well, so built a shortcut to add nap times manually:)

The shortcut gets the current date and time, subtracts 15 minutes, and defines this as the start time of the nap. The. It takes the current time, adds this as the end time of the nap.
All times can be adjusted, it gives you an option to change the times.

Another Autosleep user here . . . . all naps are recorded automatically (sometimes takes a few minutes to log). This function did not work when I had a set sleeptime. All I do is activate ‘Focus - Sleep’ whenever I hit the pillow (day or night) and the data is recorded automatically. It even transfers to the Apple Health app. Try turning off the sleep scheduling - and/or give Autosleep a try.
