LOL, I have an iBook, and the light actually helps me get to sleep!

I time my breathing to the light, and think happy thoughts, and pretty soon, I'm fast asleep.

Anyway, To the guy who wanted to open the iBook and cut the wires, if you do open it, you'll find that it's much better to un-plug the connecter than cut the wires.

Or, once it's open, you can slip a piece of black film between the light and the casing, and that should eliminate the glow. I've actually got a piece of red film in there, to give my iBook's sleep light an "evil" glow, but I'm thinking of changing it to blue.

P.S. Opening iBook's is not a task for the faint-hearted.

No! not alt-eject for PB's! I cant get that damn thing to work!

Let me correct myself. I was drunk earlier.

Alt-Apple-Eject.

Press all three at the same time. It will put your powerbook into sleep mode, and the sleep light will be noticeably dimmer. It DOES work for me.

Oh... kay. Haha. Yeah... not sure how to respond to that one. But at least you're creative. haha. Better than counting sheep.

Ahh now it works, thanks a lot.

How do you reverse it to put it back to normal?

i just put it to sleep as i normally would...either closing the lid, or clicking apple>sleep. then the light is bright again.

oh that seems to work.

So I will just have to do command-alt-eject everytime at night before i put my pb to sleep. Thanks a lot for the tip.

What I used to do with my iBook was turn the LCD backlight off, and leave it open.

I do that whenever I am downloading, rendering, encoding etc... overnight.
It actually does fix the problem except that I don't like leaving my pb open, im not sure why.

What is wrong with you people!? Its the Powerbooks "snoring" light. That's why its pulsating! Acts as a good night light. :p

Can you not just shut down or cover it over with something?

I have the exact same problem as you. It used to drive me crazy at night!!!

Now I just put some clothes over my pb. :p hey, I mean at least it gets rid of the problem.

That's what I do. I have the PB in my room, and the light just won't let me sleep. I just cover it with a shirt or something.

Doesnt that command just mimic exactly what happens when you tell your 'book to sleep with the lid open via tapping the power button and selecting sleep/going to the apple emnu and selecting sleep?

Due to like... the ambient sensors? I'm sure it has the same effect.
