I’m starting to get very invested in the Apple HealthKit feature and app and have decided to start using my watch to track my sleep using an app. There seems to be a lot choices out there, does anyone have any good recommendations. So far I am leaning towards Sleep Watch by Bodymatter. Does anyone have experience with this app?
Also wondering how people who use the AW as a sleep tracker manage their battery and charging as my normal system is to charge the watch overnight. I think I’m going to try giving it a quick charge whilst I’m getting ready for bed to ensure it lasts the night and then probably buy a second charger so that I can charge it in the car on my drive into work each morning.

I have been wearing my AW overnight for the last couple of years for heart rate tracking. I typically charge it at my desk, usually during lunch.

Also interested in what sleep apps are reliable, don't require manual user intervention, and don't use much battery.

I've tried both AutoSleep and Sleep Watch. I went with Sleep Watch, as I find the interface a little more intuitive and simpler to interpret. But both are good apps that will give you the data you want. Both seem to use approximately 5-6% battery life over a night. Both are basically "set it and forget it" apps.

I usually charge my watch for about 30-60 minutes each night, sometime between dinner and bed when I'm sitting down or still. In the mornings, I do a workout (30-45 minutes) first thing, and then put the watch back on the charger for another 30-60 minutes while I shower and get ready for work. The watch charges quickly, and using this method, my battery rarely drops below 60%. The charge is always in the 90s just before bed and first thing in the morning.

Thanks for that, I've actually gone ahead and purchased Sleep Watch before seeing that AutoSleep seems to be the more popular app on here. The interface just looked a bit nicer to me and i'm a very visual person. I will give it a try tonight. I love that you don't need to tell it you are going to sleep or anything it just automatically detects it. I just need to get used to sleeping with the watch on now!

I use the auto sleep app. I just like it better. One tip I can give you about battery life is when tracking my sleep I usually turn on theater mode which saves a ton of battery. I have seen it save 20% or more.
Thanks I’ll do that. I seem to be managing it fine by giving it a quick boost before I go to sleep and then charging it again while I’m making breakfast/showering.

I'm using Pillow and i'm very satisfied with it.. UI is great and easy to analize, you can also see how long you need to fall asleep. Only minus is that you have to manually start and stop before after waking up..

Which app tells you the amount of time spent in deep/light/REM sleep?

I’ve tried 5 or more sleep tracking apps from pillow, to sleep ++ and nothing compares to AutoSleep. The recent updates made a easier to read and it is extremely accurate for me. Took a few days to figure out the right sensitivity, but it is almost always spot on. Love it.

I use AutoSleep, it’s fine. All of these sleep tracking programs seem to offer information that’s not usable to me. “I got a terrible nights sleep, cool”

One strange thing is when I first started to use AutoSleep last week, it used 3-4% battery wearing it overnight. The past few days it’s been >20%. Anyone else have this issue? Only thing I can think of is my internet goes out in the middle of the night and it’s goes on LTE?

Autosleep doesn't actually use any battery of its own on the watch as far as I can tell - it merely analyzes the data the watch is collecting on its own. When you first install the app it will analyze your sleep from nights previous to having performed the install.

Does anyone use Cardiogram here? I wanna try it out, but it says I have to do it though the bedtime function in the Clock app on the iPhone. I sleep when I go to sleep, I don't know when that will be, and I don't know when I'll wake up. Is the only way to get it working by setting up my bedtime with an alarm for all days of the week?

That is not normal and a reboot should fix. It has happened to me at very random times and a reboot always fixes. I would blame an app over internet going down.
