    I know what Shutdown does.
How does Sleep differ from just closing the lid on my Macbook Pro.
I see the screen go dark when i select Sleep, but when I open the cover it seems the same as when I just close the lid.

Does Sleep conserve power better than just shutting the cover?

    Thanks.

I'm pretty sure when you just close the lid it goes on standby.

Closing the lid puts it in the same state as sleep does, best I can tell.

    As mentioned by CWallace,
    Apple>Sleep = Closing the Lid

So, no- sleep does not conserve power better than closing the lid.
