Sleep when lid closed

Is there any way to stop my Macbook from going to sleep when I shut the lid? I like to close the lid when I play music but can't because it shuts off when I do that.

Bear in mind heat is dispatched through the keyboard so the laptop will warm up more than normal.

Not a problem for just playing music though.
