I got the same issue (overheating issue while in sleep mode). However, my problem is that after a few hours in sleep mode, the pulsing light turns solid, then after it wont wake up from the sleep. At the same time, the fans are in full blast as if the cpu is at 100% because of overheating. Only solution is to do a hard reboot of the system. This is a brand new mac book pro (3 weeks old). has anyone have the same problem? this has happened to me three times already.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,

gilbertb

Is there a non-responsive application open when this happens? Also you might want to uncheck allow bluetooth devices to wake computer from sleep.

sometimes i tell my macbook to sleep, and it wakes about a minute later. i always catch it, so i haven't experienced the overheating issue. i just don't understand what would get the macbook to wake up.

You issue sounds like one that affects any MacIntel notebook.

The guys are right, it can take up to 30 seconds to actually go to sleep. But that's only half the issue. The other half is that MacInel also have the Sudden Motion Sensor (SMS), which is veeeery sensitive.

If you want to see just how sensitive click the Linkypoo for a good time.

If you jostle the MacIntelBook in the twilight between lid closure and actual sleep "pulsing light", odd things can occur, including restarts - now imagine a restart happening in your bag.

So the key is, when entering a book to sleep, treat it gingerly until you know it is asleep.

Solution!

After reading through all these posts, experiencing the same problem I went to youtube and typed in Macbook pro overheating in sleep. Guess what I found. This program (Smart Sleep) by JinX. This is all you need and it will fix the problem. What's even more interesting is that Mac actually offers it for free download from their site so you know it's legit. Just download and install. It appears in your preferences and you can adjust how you want your computer to sleep and hibernate. Good luck to all. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/smartsleep.html
