hey guys,

I'm just wondering if I could get a specific explanation of what my mac is doing when it's on "sleep" mode. Does the HD stop spnning? how much battery power does it use? is it more similare to sleep or hibernate in win xp? thanks guys!

It uses a minimal amount of power to keep alive the data in memory. If you allow your computer to wake via bluetooth, then bluetooth is partially active. The keyboard still receives input to wake the computer. The CPU also uses minimal power. Other than that, most devices are off.

Some Macs (anything recentish) also has Safe Sleep which is more like hibernate: contents of RAM are saved to disk...

so putting my computer to sleep and putting it in my bookbag for a 25 minute walk shoulden't drive the possibly spinning harddrives?
