Slide Over vs Safari Forward Gesture

Somehow the new slide over view has broken Safaris forward swipe gesture. Is there any way to use both the forward gesture from Safari and the slide over?

Slide over will activate if you slide from the middle. Slide from the top or bottom and you'll go forward.
