slideshow software?

I need software that can play a number of jpg-pictures in short sequence (0.5 - 2sec), ideally with some cross-fading efx to soften transitions. a slideshow, basically.
the pics will be updated regularly and the software should have no problems with that but just keep looping over that directory...
any ideas?

edit
even better would be I could start up that sw and it would start looping through the directory immediately...
 
iphoto can make slideshows, as well keynote. iPhoto came with your computer, why have you trashed it?
 
space. no matter how much, it's never enough
i use install templates that are cleaned of all that sw i don't use.

You could either go to the Mac App Store and download it. It may be free since iLife comes with the computer, but it might not depending on when you bought the computer. Or, I think the apple stores may still have box sets you can buy.

hey do i understand right that when installing sw via appstore you don't get a installable image (.dmg, .pkg) anymore?
