Received my Incase Nylon Sling Pack recently.

Just a mini report, what a great way to carry a 17" MBP, in the vertical position. The sling is compact while still having room for the MBP, files, a camera, iPod, etc., etc.

    My .02 cents.

I think sling packs aren't for everyone. I had a LowePro sling pack for my dSLR kit and hated it. I wish InCase made their canvas messenger bag for the MBP 17. I have the Incase Ripstop Backpack (now discontinued?). It's really nice for travel, but too big for casual use.

I agree with you on dSLR sling, had one & hated it too. That was one reason I was apprehensive about the Incase Sling. But in using I prefer it to a shoulder bag when it comes to carrying a large laptop. I have a XL Timbuk 2 messenger that I seldom carry because its a pain in tight quarters, on airplanes, etc.

I ended up with a Domke F-2 (photo-journalist canvas shoulder bag) for my photo kit and love it. I can walk around all day with it on my shoulder (with the addition of a postal carrier's shoulder pad), and it holds a lot too (D200, 70-200/2.8 VR, TC, 28-70/2.8, flash, batteries, filters, etc).

I'll have a look at the sling if I ever see it at the Apple store, but since I have the Ripstop for travel duties, a simple canvas messenger would do for me.

I bought the same pack (though mine looks slightly different than the photo) back in April. At the time it was just about the only case that would fit a 17" MBP. It can carry much more that its looks let on.

Well, at least you don't overcharge!
