thanks for the walkthrough! remember to make the shell script an executable.

Hi Guys thank you for all your help!, I follow the instructions but for some reason when I tried to open the Slingplayer app won't load, I noticed that happens when I change the value key of the key CFBundleExecutable to SlingPlayer.sh. Please help...

there must be something wrong with your Slingplayer.sh file. post the contents of that file and let's take a look.

Problem with slingbox after mod??

Evening guys, I have tried both the methods on the previous page and I'm still getting Slingplayer mobile is not compatable :(

I have an IPad 2 here is where my path is:-
//var/mobile/Applications/79B23A69-C03C-4E1F-A53C-1D2C4564F6F5/SlingPlayer.app/SlingPlayer.sh

Here is a copy of my SlingPlayer.sh :-
#!/bin/sh
cp /var/mobile/Applications/79B23A69-C03C-4E1F-A53C-1D2C4564F6F5/Documents/{19CDAA26-2CA8-4b77-AEA2-029AC94D0E88}.dat.classic /var/mobile/Applications/79B23A69-C03C-4E1F-A53C-1D2C4564F6F5/Documents/{19CDAA26-2CA8-4b77-AEA2-029AC94D0E88}.dat
exec "/var/mobile/Applications/79B23A69-C03C-4E1F-A53C-1D2C4564F6F5/SlingPlayer.app/SlingPlayer"

Have I got anything wrong in those????

I would really like to get it working on ipad2, I know you probably think the answers so far are idiot proof, but you have never met this idiot ;)

what version of SlingPlayer are you running? don't know if there have been any updates to the app since this hack was identified a long time ago.

did you correctly update the {19CDAA26-2CA8-4b77-AEA2-029AC94D0E88}.dat to allow streaming in the section where it talks about the Classic model?

Thanks for the reply, ive tried 1.4.6, v1.0, v1.1

Thats why I think it is something I'm doing wrong.

I've tried Auto4.sh as well, running from /var

I have noticed if that if I install Slingplayer and do not run it I have got nothing in //var/mobile/Applications/729C3F08-AADA-4CA9-A613-67897523191C/Documents.

The {19CDAA26-2CA8-4b77-AEA2-029AC94D0E88}.dat is not there until you first run it.
Am I supposed to run the program first?

A script would be great if you can tell me one to make and where I put it and in what order I have to execute it, see not much to ask... :) J/K

Hi guys,
The newest slingplayer.app removed .dat files. Here is a walk around:
1. installed the earliest slingplayer.app from installous...
2. run the auto script and modify the exe bundle, at this point you should be able to watch slingplayer without problem
3. update the slingplayer.app to newest version.
4. run the script and modify the exe bundle
5. now you should have no problem to use the newest version.

Cheers mate, I tried and tried this for ages and nothing worked.
I then went through every step in this tutorial again and found out thet I did not install Bigboss recommended tools.
As soon as I did this the screen worked.

Thanks once again.

Great working beautifully? Any tips on getting hq out of the app. Ihave the slingbox pro "not hd" and the quality is just horrible... Much better on the Mac. Maybe trick the player into thinking I have a pro-hd?

To be honest I was not happy with the picture on Ipad2 using version 1.4.6

I noticed that the bitrate was only about 400 or 600, ( you can tell the bitrate by clicking on aspect ratio). The program does not allow you to change it.

So I tried an older version of the program version 1.
Version 1 allows you to click HQ for quality and although you do not get Hi-Def, you end up with a bitrate of between 1900-2200 kbps so a much better quality picture altogether.

Hope this helps, maybe others have some tips for you also.

great hack..but

hi all.

anyone know where i can get the older version of slingplayer for IPAD ? it seems that the only versions available are 1.5*.

Have tried it on this version but have no luck.

Anyone managed to get this working ?

Thanks

Tas

Good question, been scouring the internet, but haven't been able to scare up an older version. I f anyone can point us to one, let us know.

Thanks!

edit: Nevermind, I was able to get the hack to work on the latest version (1.5.4). Just had to do it manually. Search the file for the string "min-firmware-av" or "min-firmware-classic" depending on which model of slingbox you have and change that value from 0 to 1.

Anyone had success with the latest 2.0 release? All was peachy in the previous release but I am having troubles now. Scripts are all working but the file is overwritten on startup.

hi everyone,

Is someone able to get this to work with version 2.0?

Could someone please turn this hack into a downloadable tweak from Cydia? b/c I'm a newb and I'm scared of messing it up!!

Or could someone post a step by step instruction for version 2.0? Thank you all soooo much!!!!

Sorry to drag up this old post, but I am facing the same issue.
Is there a noobs guide to getting this working on my iPad?
I'm not an idiot, but a lot of the stuff on this thread is a bit over my head at the moment.
If somebody would take the time, I'm happy to learn. Thanks :)

yes! I am running 2.4.4 on my iPad Air and the hack still works. It's a little simpler. You just need to modify the file {561259E5-779C-484b-9B7B-669E18D36FF7}.dat on your iOS device to allow streaming as before and that's it! Best of all, the file doesn't get overwritten each time the app starts so it continues to work for me.

I can't for the life of me get this to work. Every time I open the app after editing the file to allow streaming from the Tuner it spins on "Initializing" indefinitely. I've been trying to stream from my SlingBox Tuner to my iPad 2 for months using this thread as a guide. I'm desperate for help!

I would delete the file then run the slingplayer app which will regenerate the file for you. Then quit slingplayer and try again to edit it. You should only need to change the "0" to a "1" for the option "streaming-allowed" in the "min-firmware-tuner" section for your model. Unfortunately I have the Classic sling box so I can't confirm this will work for you.
