slow at XP login

I have bootcamp with XP installed and when I get passed the login screen there is an extremely long wait before the desktop appears. After that, it is very fast, what gives?

Maybe a slow start up item? Antivirus, firewall? Defragmentation utility?

do you mean slower than OSX or slower than any normal XP system?

Try a couple things:

Start>Run>msconfig>Startup Items

Get rid of anything you don't need. If you don't know what it is you can google what each thing is.

Download the new bootcamp drivers http://tinyurl.com/63krm2 throw them on a disk and install them in XP.

Install all updates in Win XP if you haven't already done so (XP SP3)

Just the transition between logging in and actually seeing the desktop is slower than on other XP systems.
