Hey,

When choosing to open / select a file from inside an application. My specific example being QuickTime Player's "Add clip to end of file", I would browse to a folder then I would get the AJAX style "working" indicator at the bottom left of the dialog box for quite some time before the list of files would appear.

Finder itself is no problem when browsing through the file system, and it's certainly not a load issue as I'm on a 2013 rMBP with no other apps running.

Anyone else experienced this or have an idea why it is happening?

Thanks!

Is it all apps, or a specific app? Do you have any external disks/NAS connected to your computer? I've found this could create a delay

I think I've noticed it in two apps (can't remember if there were more) QuickTime Player and Final Draft.

No external NAS. I have a Time Capsule, but my Mac was not connected to it at the time I don't think. Will check if it happens while backing up...

No external disks attached.

i'm experiencing the same issue

seems related to the connected NAS... but if you let osx scan everything (see the spinning wheel in the lower left of the file dialogue) it's fast from then on in all programs
