I'm transferring files between two Samsung SSD drives via an Anker 3-port USB-C hub with my 12" Macbook. For some reason, the transfer speeds are way too slow, like 56k modem slow between the two drives. Anyone had issues like this before? The workaround is copying to the Macbook and then to the SSD drive which works fine but I can't figure out why this is happening.

Does the MacBook have 2 USB ports, or only one?

I'm guessing that if you're using only one port, it has to "split the bandwidth" between both drives, essentially cutting transfer speeds in half, or even worse...

The problem might be the hub. Is this the model? https://www.anker.com/products/variant/USB-C-to-4-Port-USB-3.0-Hub/A8305041
What does System Information report under USB? You should see the hub, the maximum speed of the ports and the available current for each one. Some hubs do not supply enough amps to power two drives at the same time unless it's powered.

This is from Anker's website:
For a stable connection, don't use this hub with high power-consumption devices, such as external hard drives.
