Ever since updating iTunes to the latest version (I think 8.01), iTunes and my AppleTV has been dog slow streaming movies from my MacBook. I tried a few network connection changes including changing the channel on my Time Capsule router and using an ethernet cable with AirTunes shut off on the AppleTV. With the ethernet plugged in, I did notice faster loading of movie posters in the iTunes store (on the AppleTV) and YouTube videos play sooner. I have also done tests in the past that prove the ethernet plug is faster then Wireless G. But I haven't compared the ethernet vs Wireless N. Either way, it appears as if the ethernet connection is faster then my wireless network. But even with ethernet, my movies streamed from my MacBook still play choppy and slow and pause every 5 minutes so it can catch up on streaming.

I'm leaning towards iTunes on my MacBook being slow. It often freezes up and I have to force quit it and restart it. I have been digitizing all of my DVDs the past couple weeks and adding them to my iTunes library. I have about 85 movies added now. Could the size of the library, or amount of files\data that the library has, cause iTunes to run slow?

I'm not syncing anything from iTunes to the AppleTV hard drive, I'm just connecting to the MacBook's shared iTunes library. Everything was running great when I first got the ATV, but after the ATV 2.2 and iTunes 8.01 updates, I'm ready to return the ATV to the store to get a refund. I have 5 days left in my return period to do so.

If anybody has any suggestions to improve my iTunes\AppleTV performance, I would appreciate that.
